Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as polyacetal, is a thermoplastic material featuring high strength, low coefficient of friction and excellent stability. As a result, this plastic material is particularly used by our customers for the production of precision parts.
Owing to polyoxymethylene’s high strength and hardness, it is retained in a wide temperature range. Its toughness remains up to -40°C and even at high temperatures, it demonstrates very good heat resistance and sliding properties.
Since POM is also characterized by good electrical properties and low water absorption, it can replace metals in many cases. Polyoxymethylene is also used for a broad range of applications. It is used, inter alia, for car door lock systems, zippers, gears, fully automatic coffee machines and hinges.
